The sequel to Phil Gordon's Little Green Book deals with the analysis of hands and the application of his style of play to special situations. The book has chapters on ‘Cash Games’, ‘Early Tournament Play’,’ Middle Tournament Play‘,’Late Tournament Play’, ‘The Final Table ‘,’ Sit & Gos ‘,’Satellites and Super-Satellites”. In each chapter the author uses genuine hands he has himself experienced. He explains to what you should pay special attention in tournaments and cash games also making his reasons clear for his decisions.
As in the 'Green Book' the contents are well chosen. The author formulates his ideas clearly using short sentences. Regarding individual strategies and concepts the book has less to offer than Phil Gordon's Little Green Book, but it is also in the nature of things that in a book which is primarily about hand analysis one does not repeat basic concepts from a previous book. In addition to the actual hands Phil tells many humorous poker anecdotes which makes for very entertaining reading! Phil Gordon has managed successfully to keep the books separate. This means that you do not have to read one of the books in order to understand the other. Thus it can make sense to just buy this book without having read the 'Green Book'. As a knowledge of poker is required this book is not intended for beginners or novices but rather for the advanced player. If you liked Phil Gordon's Little Green Book you will love this book!
