This book describes exclusively Texas Hold'em Limit Ring Games. Many of the explained concepts are so basic and decisive that this book is suitable for every tournament player, too. After a short introduction to Texas Hold'em poker the author, David Sklansky, a professional poker player for more than 30 years, concentrates especially on position play, the evaluation of starting hands (hole cards) and the interpretation of flops. In addition to Sklansky's famous Hand Group Chart the highlight of the book is the chapter on general strategy. Supported by various clear examples the reader is shown how odds and implied odds can be calculated or when, statistically looked at, a bluff is worthwhile (yes, that can be calculated too!). Not only the expected value of a bluff can be calculated, but also when it is worth folding even when a very large pot is at stake. These well explained concepts can be successfully used again and again! Important: The book is written in English containing very many English poker expressions. Moreover, Sklansky is a professional poker player and not an author which sometimes leads to a complicated style. Some parts must be read and reread before they make sense. The book should only be bought by readers who have a good command of English. Although I personally play mainly tournament poker the investment of about 10 $ to 15 $ in this book soon paid off! By the way, this book is also suitable for Texas Hold'em novices because at the beginning the basic rules are explained. General poker knowledge, however, is a must to understand this book.
