Caros Book of Poker Tells, Mike Caro

As the title suggests this book is mainly about poker tells (see Poker Vocabulary). Those, who do not only play online poker, will be aware that it is valuable to observe one’s opponents and draw the right conclusions. In this book Mike Caro gives various tips on how to read your opponents and how, as a rule, behaviour can be interpreted. The tips on the revealing behavior patterns very soon become repetitive. Rule: You must understand what the motives of your opponent are. In most cases, he does everything to convince you of the contrary! In short: If he seems confident he will tend to bluff. If he seems uninterested in the current hand or is unwilling to pay, he is holding a very strong hand. To give the work a scientific touch the author reveals the value of ‘tells’ per hour (in dollar terms). How he calculates this value remains a mystery but it is supposed to be complicated...
At the beginning of the book Caro wastes a lot of paper explaining his notation system which is not referenced in the rest of the book. The photos Caro uses to document the 'tells' are of miserable quality. Some could or even should have been entirely left out! Conclusion: swiss-holdem-poker.com recommends this book only to extremely enthusiastic poker players. For all others: hands off – it's useless!
